This story is based on the events that occur in season five of Covert Affairs. There are some similarities with the events that occurred on the show that happen in this story, however, I've made several changes to them, altering them to the way I interpreted the events of season five. Following the events of the fifth season, is what I would've liked to have seen happen on the show, had there been a sixth season.
A series of short stories featuring Annie and Eyal.

Six years after Annie and Eyal part in Amsterdam, Annie is sent on a mission in Israel, the outcome of which is nothing she expects.
The title of this story comes from Kings of Leon's song "Beautiful War." Annie and Eyal have always had a somewhat love/hate relationship, however, I find that dynamic an interesting aspect of their relationship—their endless banter (which some have said is them fighting like a married couple), their desire to save and protect one another, the give-and-take they do with one another, and of course, the incredible chemistry and the depth of the feelings they have for each other. And thus, as seen from some of the song lyrics I've added below, their relationship is like a "beautiful war" to me.
"Bite your tongue, don't make a scene, dear. Everybody's been here, least once before—but we've been here more. Your heart breaks...And I've seen it all go, come back around. And I've heard the sound. The tip of your tongue, the top of your lungs, is doing my head in. I say, 'Love, don't mean nothing, unless there's something worth fighting for.' It's a beautiful war. When I hold the warmth of your body, there's nobody that I'd rather hold...I say 'Love, don't mean nothing, unless there's something worth fighting for.' It's a beautiful war." — Kings of Leon, "Beautiful War"
